Belt conveyors are used in a wide range of industries to transport huge amounts of material. Uneven load on the belt conveyor due to faulty or non-uniform loading of material to the belt can cause belt damage.

Particularly in the case of wet processes there is a risk for lateral drift, which often results in costly belt damage and unplanned production stops. Traditionally, the problem has been solved with "hammer-and-wrench" adjustments or other mechanical, non-automated solutions.
